We started 2016 with a hat-trick of award wins at the Oracle Retail Week Awards, the retail industry equivalent of the Oscars. As well as triumphing in the ‘Technology Initiative of the Year’ and the ‘Growth Retailer of the Year’ categories, we were crowned ‘Pure Play Etailer of the Year’ for the second consecutive year. Our CEO Alex Baldock described the wins at the ceremony in March as a ‘huge compliment from our peers’ who ‘recognise the leaps we’ve made in transforming our business’.
In April 2016, Very.co.uk was named Best Online Retailer for the second consecutive year and Best Online Fulfilment Retailer at the 15th Verdict Customer Satisfaction Awards. Meanwhile, Littlewoods.com was runner-up in the same categories, capping a great afternoon for Shop Direct. The awards, which saw 120 senior industry figures come together for a ceremony in London, were decided by 10,000 consumers who rated the retailers they shopped with over the last year.
Our success continued later in April, when we won three Drapers Digital Awards, including Best Digital team. We also took home the prize for Best Use of Social Media for Very.co.uk’s 2015 Facebook campaign, while our group ecommerce director Jonathan Wall was named Best Digital Leader for his ongoing commitment to ecommerce and digital success.
In September 2016, we won four Retail Week Tech and Ecomm Awards, including overall award for excellence. Our teams took home the prizes for IT Team of the Year and ecommerce Team of the Year, while we were also recognised for our work with Arrow XL for Delivery / Fulfilment Initiative of the Year.
We were also recognised later in September, when our Littlewoods Ireland brand won a LANDY Award. The team were awarded gold in the category of best integration of search into cross-channel marketing at the second international annual Search Engine Land Awards in New York.
